Week 2 Study - Landscapes

This week in observational drawing we studied landscapes, epecially the perspective of landscapes.

These drawings completed for directed study are the same landscape drawn in different sizes. They were done using a combination of 4B, 5B and 6B pencils. The drawing which I felt easiest to complete was the A4 drawing (the largest drawing on this page) becuase I was able to add detail efficiently in pencil. The scene became slightly easier to draw with each drawing. This meant that slowly sizing up the scene was a good method to use for planning out larger scale drawings as I became more aware with how the later images would look on the page. I feel as though I spent too much time trying to add detail to the smaller images as they were only meant to be a guide for the larger pictures.

I feel that the perspective of the image is mainly correct, but is a little bit wrong on the arched windows. they should be getting smaller towards the vanishing point but they are not as straight as they should be, especially the glass panels. However, the two square sections of the building look correct and turned out how I wanted to on the largest image.
